Stuart:

The St. Lucie River, nearly a mile wide at this point, makes a sweeping horseshoe turn around the city of Stuart before it flows into the Indian River and via the St Lucie Inlet, into the Atlantic Ocean.  With the St. Lucie River on three sides and views across a narrow spit of land to the Indian River, Stuart has one of the loveliest water orientations of any city on the Florida's east coast.  Stuart offers from Sewall's Point luxurious riverfront estates to very inexpensive inland housing.  This city offers something for everyone at relatively low prices. 

Port Saint Lucie:

Port St Lucie is another coastal Florida city with miles of beautiful beaches, and thousands of acres of sparsely populated interior land.  It should be noted that throughout this area the term "interior land" refers to land not directly on the Indian River or the Atlantic Ocean, but rarely more that a few minutes from either.  Port St Lucie is mushrooming in growth and this has already made it one of the larger towns in the state.  In terms of land mass, Port St Lucie's 85 square miles make it the third largest city in Florida.  It also seems to be one of the best managed.  The original design-- that of individual residential communities with their own schools, parks and shopping centers-- is till being followed today across the state and the nation.

Fort Pierce:

Fort pierce is another city in this region with a spruced-up and restored downtown.  It seems that more and more Florida towns are rediscovering their roots and making the most of their historic buildings.  Fort Pierce has the advantage of a downtown that looks out on the Indian River, that is almost 2 miles wide at this point and it is developing its plans to make the most of these views.  You can buy a lot for your money in this town.  From huge historic homes fronting the river to little two bedrooms gems can be found in nice neighborhoods nestled among more expensive homes. 

Vero Beach:

Vero Beach is a beautiful little coastal community with much to offer its residents.  Its downtown is small and open to wonderful vistas of the Indian River, seemingly at every turn.  Most buildings are no taller than three stories, so there is a light and open feel to even the busiest part of the city.  Housing in Vero Beach offers a wide range of options, from the interesting and historic downtown area to newer country club communities.  Although it has its share of million dollar waterfront estates, home buyers can easily find affordable, immaculate homes in park-like settings in the downtown area and newer areas of the city.
