The Central Florida region, along the Atlantic coast, stretches for more than 150 miles on the coat line and includes Port St Lucie, Stuart, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and surrounding areas to Ormond Beach.  For many central Florida visitors it is the gateway to Florida as they travel down I-95.  The southern part of this region is nicknamed "The Treasure Coast" for the many Spanish galleons bearing tons of gold and silver form Mexico and South America that were wrecked off this coast.

It is the mild winters with a touch of the four seasons and the economical living that has led many to move into Central Florida.  No region in Florida is more diverse or interesting.  As you explore  central Florida you will discover "The Space Coast" (in reference to the America's space program) and Daytona Beach home of the Daytona International Speedway a place were famous auto races take place.

In this region every city and town seems to have been oriented to take advantage of beautiful rivers (Indian River, Halifax River and the St Johns River begins here) and ocean views.  The Indian River and the Halifax River are part of the Intercoastal Waterway.  This area is protected by the barrier island that stretches from Stuart to Jacksonville. 

The major appeal of this region to home buyers is a combination of delightful weather, wonderful beaches, stunning water views and truly affordable housing.  Its pleasant small and midsize towns offer many of the same amenities as towns father south on Fort Lauderdale and Miami without the crowds or expense.  In this area you can find huge historic homes, large executive homes, modest three-bedroom family hoes and little two bedroom charming bungalows or chalets.  You can also find a variety of lake front property, contemporary townhouses and custom build homes.  If keeping a yard is not your style then high rise condominium are available at various price ranges.

Our Part of Florida as stated above is known as The Treasure Cost and has two museums dedicated to shipwrecks and sunken treasure.  The McLarty Treasure Museum presents, through dioramas and exhibits or actual treasure, a fascinating record of the eleven Spanish galleons that sank in a hurricane just of the coast in 1715.   The area also has the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum (named after Mel Fisher the most successful and famous treasure hunter in history).  This museum displays of treasures he retrieved form wrecked Spanish galleons.
